SILICON VALLEY

Silicon Valley is a commonly used term for the southern part of the San Francisco Bay Area in the U.S. state
of California. This region is home to many technology companies, including some of the largest in the world.
Originally, the term referred to the high concentration of companies involved in the production and
innovation of silicon chips, but today, it encompasses all high-tech businesses in the area.
